GPS training of the Post-conflict unit

The Post-Conflict Branch leads numerous post-conflict assessment missions worldwide. OBSCOM trained all 15 experts to the operational use of GPS through theorical sessions and practical outdoor sessions. To help supporters of French candidate Bayrou meet with local contacts. To strengthen and focus the efforts French presidential candidate supporters, OBSCOM and Komak developed an interactive map showing the entire candidate’s supporting community contacts in France. Main features of the application were: postal code query, creation of a dedicated pop-up with contact’s details.

359000 yards forest mapping in the east of France

OBSCOM mapped 300 hectares of land using differential GPS with a sub-metric accuracy. More than 400 points were captured; leading to the development of a new geographic information system.

10.000 km² of recent SPOT images over Afghanistan eastern forest complex

OBSCOM provided the international Wildlife Conservation Society with recent satellite images of Afghanistan. These SPOT images were captured in 2006. OBSCOM delivered ortho-rectified images as well as a full mosaic of 10.000 km².
